Missed details

To the editor:

The article in the Jan. 19 Journal-World did an excellent job covering the anti-war vigil outside the courthouse but failed to mention the larger peace march that led to the vigil. The march was a crucial part of the events which took place Saturday morning, for multiple reasons.

This was the largest anti-war march I have personally seen in Lawrence for a long time. The Journal-World claimed 400 people were at the vigil, and gave credit to 300 people at the march (in the online photo section), meaning a majority of demonstrators came from the march. The march also took the streets, which past marches had failed to do.

I am concerned that such an important event went unreported. There was also no mention of the Organization of Lawrence Anti-Imperialists, who organized the march. Hopefully this letter will help balance out what was missed in Sunday’s article.
