University of North Carolina tennis coach Jen Callen has announced the signing of Lawrence’s Caitlin Collins to a national letter of intent.

Collins, a senior at Seabury Academy, committed to the Tar Heels in November.

“When I watched Caitlin play tennis for the first time, it was obvious that her competitive spirit and athleticism set her apart from most players her age,” Callen said. “Caitlin is an all-court player who has the ability to overpower her opponents while adding variety with her top-spin lob and backhand slice.”

Collins currently is No. 22 in the 18-under rankings. She was ranked as high as No. 2 in the 16-under division in 2002 and was a quarterfinalist in the 18-under Easter Bowl United States Tennis Assn. Supernational Spring Championships.
