Poor treatment

To the editor:

A community like Lawrence doesn’t deserve the treatment it’s getting from its so-called Democratic Party. First, state Rep. Troy Findley resigned his post recently, to take a job with the incoming governor’s administration. Perhaps he can help her, and all of us, in that post. But to resign a seat, the 46th, comprising the heart of the Democratic base in Lawrence, after running unopposed in the autumn, not serving a day of his new term and essentially appointing a hand-picked crony, who had to carpetbag his way into the district to occupy the seat, is unforgivable.

The lack of courage and conviction that the national Democratic Party is exhibiting in the face of the Bush presidency is a fitting backdrop for the actions of former Rep. Findley and his party’s leaders here.
