Not incompetent

To the editor:

When a faculty member at KU has a problem with a subordinate and wants that person terminated, it sure is easy to use the word “incompetent.” It’s hard to refute that kind of smear and difficult for the subordinate to recover from professionally. I read in the Journal-World (Feb. 20) that Abdel Rahman Al-Gibaly lost his GTA position after a faculty member labeled him “incompetent.” I have known Mr. Al-Gibaly for almost 10 years. In no way is he incompetent. I will be shocked if the university does not remedy this injustice.
