Slow justice

To the editor:

I just wonder how great today’s court systems are. I moved to Lawrence about a year ago. In this move, I was told to transfer my child support case to Douglas County. I filled out the necessary paperwork. The father of my children lives in California. He recently was put in jail for three months and is currently on probation for three years.

When I learned of his jail time, I called and faxed all the necessary documentation to show which jail, which judge, what time and for how long. I have faxed letters to Kansas child support division asking for a response of how my case is going, without getting a reply. My children’s father owes more than $11,000; I still get no support. I have handed everything to them except my ex-husband in handcuffs. Is this how our judicial system works?
