School option
To the editor:
I think Mary Ann Roll had a great idea about closing the junior highs and sending the seventh- and eighth-graders to the neighborhood elementary schools while the ninth-graders could go to the high schools. It would put more students in the neighborhood schools, eliminate extra personnel needed in the junior highs and the cost of replacing them, and if one junior high was left open for the alternative students, it would eliminate the need for building them a school too.
The last idea was mine. It would also eliminate a big school bond debt too in a time when the economy is low, jobs are scarce, and there are less tax dollars to count on.
