To the editor:
I would like to respond to a letter from Sandra McCarren. Some of her statements really concerned me: Her statement that President Bush is drunk on war and that war with Iraq is not supported by the populations of the world nor of this country.
Let’s be honest, Sandra, the war with Iraq is not supported by people of your mindset, which is only about 37 percent of the people here in the United States. I concede that the number is higher in Europe. Let’s talk about some of the countries screaming the loudest about us going over there. France, Russia, Germany and Belgium — why are they so against it? Could it be all the billions they stand to loose on current and future oil contracts they have with Iraq?
The planes on Sept. 11 were not aimed at our government. They were aimed right for our people because our beliefs and our way of life.
Just in case you don’t know, this is the difference between to kill and to murder: To kill is to take one’s life with just cause; to murder is to wrongly take one’s life. I just don’t understand why so many think those two have the same definition. Now you are right about if we don’t like the way our government is working, then it is our responsibility to change it.
