Police matter?

This is in response to the letter written by Amy Grigsby on Dec. 11. While my children have several friends out in the area of Midland Junction, I do also travel that area off and on with my children. I am very cautious upon approaching that particular intersection.
Your comment, however, was about lack of city police officers sitting out there to patrol the Midland Junction intersection, which is in the county. City police are just that, City of Lawrence police. They do not have jurisdiction in the county, as far as I know. That matter would need to be directed to the county and the sheriff’s department.
