Misplaced sign

To the editor:

We are very grateful for the inclusion of the Caroling Songbook in Thursday’s Journal-World. This small gesture brought back many memories of our children singing the songs in four-part harmony at Christmas.

This holiday season, our son with the 10th Mountain Division in Afghanistan, like so many other young men and women, is serving as is so frequently said “in harm’s way” and we will miss his bass voice in our family choir. We pray constantly for the safety of all serving in our armed forces.

At the same time, we learned today that a sign indicating support for our troops overseas must not be placed within the city’s right of way in our front yard. Without any notification the sign was removed. We assumed it to be an act of minor vandalism. After learning later that a city official had removed the sign, we complained to Mike Wildgen, who graciously returned our sign and indicated precisely where it can be placed. We hope others will determine where such signs can be placed in their yards, whatever their message may be.

Bill and Nancy Keel,
