D.J. Watkins

School/Class: Lawrence High, 2002

In high school: Watkins was the leading scorer on the Lawrence High boys basketball team that finished 18-5 and advanced to the Class 6A state tournament in 2001-02. With help from standout point guard Stephen Vinson, who now is playing at Kansas University, Watkins averaged 17.7 points per game his senior year and shot 37 percent (59-for-161) from three-point range.

Where is he now?: Watkins is now playing basketball at Baker University in nearby Baldwin. As a regular starter for the 3-9 Wildcats, Watkins has averaged 7.8 points per game in his first season of collegiate basketball, including a team-high 16 points in a 67-43 victory over Saint Mary last month.
