To the editor:

We are the grandparents of David Arndt, a team member of the American Legion AAA Lawrence Raiders.

Last month, they played in the state tournament in Hays. On Thursday, they defeated Salina. On Friday, they defeated Olathe North. On Saturday, they defeated Derby. Then, on Sunday, they defeated Salina again for the 2003 STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!! The last time Lawrence was the state champion was in 1964.

Hats off to the coaches. Head Coach Carl Brooks and his assistants, Ryan Goodwin and Troy Wingert, guided them to a fantastic season. It is great to be state champs again. Just ask the players and coaches. Next will be the regional in New Ulm, Minn. GO RAIDERS!!!
