LINK, a nonprofit organization that serves free, hot meals to the community, needs volunteers to serve lunch on Aug. 16 and 23. Volunteers will begin food preparations and serving arrangements at 12:30 p.m., serve from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and then clean for 30 to 45 minutes. About 10 to 12 volunteers are needed each week. Volunteers should call ahead to reserve a spot.
Last week’s results
The Roger Hill Volunteer Center did not receive any calls from groups wanting to do a service project on Sept. 11. The One Day’s Pay coalition is working to establish Sept. 11 as an annual day of volunteering to recognize the massive volunteer efforts immediately after the terrorist attacks in 2001. Groups and individuals can pledge to commit a portion of that day to a service project on the Web site, www.onedayspay.org, or can contact the volunteer center at 865-5030, for help in organizing a project.
