Vaccine error

To the editor:

Thank you for publishing my letter regarding the unacceptable damage and risk created by mercury (thimerosal) in vaccines. However, I did make an error which I would like to correct. I stated RhoGAM vaccines contained thimerosal. Actually Ortho Diagnostics, the manufacturers of RhoGAM, received FDA approval to produce a thimerosal-free vaccine in 2001.

However, I still recommend checking the package insert to see thimerosal is an ingredient as I don’t know when thimerosal-free production started and thimerosal-containing vaccines could still be in inventory. But it is probable RhoGAM is thimerosal-free today, as are other alternatives such as WinRho and BayRho. (Note this does not address whether thimerosal is used as a sterilization agent.)

For anyone who would like to find out more about the link between mercury, autism and other neurological disorders such as attention deficit disorder, language delay and learning difficulties, I recommend contacting the Safe Minds organization.

Ben Price,
