What a joy

To the editor:

Oh what joy there is as the town fills back up. Why, just today I had the experience of picking up all the trash from a waste basket that flew out of a pickup truck and into our yard as the driver sped off. I got honked at and flipped off as I slowed down just long enough to park in front of my house. I watched as a driver got mad because he realized he could not turn around in my driveway because of new concrete work. I even got to retrieve the smashed up remains of a cabinet, left in an adjacent lot, when it fell from a moving vehicle which wasn’t packed quite right.

I am in awe as I watch from my corner the countless pickups and trailers pass by with furniture loaded to the brim and someone holding onto the mattress which is falling off. I can only wish that these new residents give Lawrence the same respect they would expect from residents coming to their own hometowns. With that, it is time to go pick up the fast-food wrappers that are blowing down my street.

Holli Joyce,

Lawrence
