Appreciation

To the editor:

Thank you to the people of Lawrence! I feel compelled to laud you and express our deepest appreciation.

My husband was one of the D-Day veteran participants during your “Greatest Generation” celebration at the Dole dedication festivities last week.

It was our first time visiting Lawrence, and it will remain one of our most favorable and memorable cities ever.

The complete “organized-to-perfection” event was unbelievably fantastic, down to the minute degree. Capt. Bill Howell, assistant dedication coordinator, obviously saw to every detail.

We were totally enchanted by the enthusiastic, good, kind, caring, loving, hospitable residents of Lawrence. They must be commended, applauded and told how much we appreciated everyone’s tireless efforts, selflessness, volunteerism, and heartfelt warmth (that permeated throughout).

Kudos to the American Legion post that went out of its way to generously provide us with food, and to shower us with genuine unselfish service and true hospitality. That includes all ages, from veterans to teenagers.

Thank you for welcoming us with open arms.
