Royals on TV

To the editor:

This year, the Kansas City Royals chose to launch their own television network. While the idea was to get as many games as possible to their loyal fans, the implementation of the plan left a lot to be desired. Prior to opening day, the Royals Television Network and local cable providers fought over price and placement while fans were left to wonder if they’d ever get to see the boys in blue.

Then came K.C.’s amazing start. Finally, Royals fans had a reason to watch but sadly remained unable to catch the games. Just when it seemed like we’d never get to witness one of the best starts in major league history, Sunflower Broadband stepped up and got a deal done. Now local followers can catch almost all of the games from the comfort of their homes.

By taking this step, Sunflower has shown it does indeed care about its customers and not just the bottom line. Too often in today’s sporting world, it’s the fan that suffers as multimillion-dollar corporations and players hassle over money. Today, Sunflower Broadband showed that they were different, and for that they deserve our thanks.
