Bad priorities

To the editor:

As a Kansas University graduate with bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the anthropology department, I find Chuck Woodling’s statement in Monday’s column — “Hemenway knows KU’s window to the world isn’t its anthropology department” — highly insulting! Instead of trying to make KU a top-notch educational institution such as Harvard, Robert Hemenway pleaded poverty so he could close the Museum of Anthropology to save $100,000. And yet now he is finding all kinds of money to hire an “entertainment” coach!

And what makes anyone think Bill Self can win the national championship for KU? Even with some of the most talented players in the country, Roy Williams certainly never could! I think it’s high time you and the rest of the world figure out there are more important things in life than basketball and that sorry football program at KU. The football coach KU has now is one of the sorriest ones that could ever have been hired!

I just wish Hemenway’s position was one that could be voted on. I’d be all in favor of voting him out of office!
