Fight for right

To the editor:

I can certainly appreciate Mr. Cuenca’s view of how hard it is to keep the peace and restore the order once the air support has subsided. He is right when he says that there will be some of our service men and women who will be called upon to pay the ultimate sacrifice. Thank God there are men and women who will stand under that pressure.

I do take exception to his statement that standing against violence and mayhem is always more moral. This war was a stand against violence and mayhem, the violence and mayhem that Saddam has been systematically performing on the people of Iraq for two decades. I am certain that the millions of Iraqi people that are dancing in the streets would rather have George Bush in their corner as opposed to 100,000 peace protesters standing by holding signs proclaiming their angst against war, while hundreds of thousands of Iraqi families are tortured and murdered at the hands of Saddam and his vicious henchmen. Sometimes we fight because it is right, and that is moral.
