Disappointed fan
To the editor:
It’s time for Roy Williams to quit trying to straddle the fence and just step over into the University of North Carolina garden. It doesn’t help us to hear him cry about how hard this is for him. He gave us 15 great years and now he’s done. He yearned for North Carolina the whole time he was here, and I don’t think we need to consider another candidate for Kansas University coach with North Carolina ties who will yearn for North Carolina. Let Dean Smith and Roy Williams stay out of this one.
I am proud of the players for doing the mature thing and contacting the recruits to let them know they are wanted at KU and to come be a part of the team. Roy should quit recruiting our recruits and stop saying that being a recruit for Kansas is being “stuck out there” (ESPN interview). I would have wished Roy well and understood his desire to go home but have been disappointed in the way he has handled this. I don’t think he was fair with the players or the recruits or the fans to not be honest and out front with it all months ago. Go Jayhawks.
