Personnel issues

To the editor:

No one should be surprised Robert Hemenway made a mess by meddling in the athletic department. Some of us have been telling you for many years the man has serious personnel management shortcomings.

The loss of the university’s stature and national rankings, the way he’s handled the Bohl hiring/firing, and everything from the university’s approach to dealing with civil rights violations to the pay inequities for classified staff should finally leave no doubt he has been doing the university more harm than good.

If only the KU “family” had cared as much about what he was doing to minorities, women, the disabled and the working poor and had stood up and demanded his replacement, perhaps KU would not now be in this mess.
