True blue fan

To the editor:

As a KU alumnus and as a Lawrence native, I am deeply saddened by Roy Williams’ decision to leave. On the other hand, as a manager and supervisor, I have always subscribed to the theory that it is better to have an exceptional person for a few years than to have a mediocre one for 10. We have been fortunate to have an exceptional one for 15.

With that in mind. I want to wish coach Williams well and success, but not if and when he plays Kansas! We may still love you, coach, but Jayhawk blood is true blue.

To the KU players, we know that no one is in your shoes to understand what this loss means to you, but regardless of what happens, remember that we fans love you.

For four years, if we are lucky, we get to claim you as our own. Losing your leader is tough, but you are a team, and Jayhawk fans will always be there for you. Every season, Allen Fieldhouse is packed to the rafters just to see you play. I hope you stay at Kansas because years from now, you will be proud to have been a Jayhawk, and I speak from experience.

To Nick and Kirk, I say Thank You! Great players will always get noticed no matter where they are, but I am very grateful and proud that you were noticed while playing in a KU uniform.

Our next coach must carry on coach Williams’ legacy of integrity and excellence. While some may come and some may go, with the fans, it’s always Go Jayhawks!

Vicki Julian,

Lawrence
