Injury accidents

  • A 93-year-old Lawrence man caused a four-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon at the intersection of Lawrence Avenue and West Sixth Street, according to a report. Aubrey C. Edwards, who was driving south on Lawrence Avenue, rear-ended a Toyota about 12:43 p.m. He then backed up, tried to drive around the vehicle, hit it again. He drove into the intersection and hit a Pontiac and a Plymouth Voyager that were stopped, waiting to turn. A 12-year-old girl who was riding in the Pontiac, Maci N. Lawrence, was treated at the scene.

Burglaries and thefts reported

  • A painting of three bluebirds on a branch, a painting of a river and a needlepoint picture disappeared from Douglas County Senior Services, 745 Vt. The theft happened sometime between Saturday afternoon and Monday morning, according to a police report.
  • A 21-year-old Lawrence man told police he lost a video camera worth $2,000 and a watch worth $130 in a burglary in the 2700 block of Grant Circle. It happened sometime between 8:30 a.m. Saturday and 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, according to a report.

Police reports

  • A 53-year-old Lawrence woman says a man approached her in the parking lot of Hobby Lobby, 1801 W. 23rd, and tried to rob her. The woman told police the man asked her for money about 8:15 p.m. April 10 as she was leaving the store, police said Thursday. The assailant held his hand in his pocket as if he had a weapon, the woman told police. She ran back into the store without giving the man anything.
