To the editor:
How about those Jayhawks! They may have been outscored by the Syracuse Orangemen who "in one shining moment" flashed across the sky like comets. But, for the past four years, Nick Collison and Kirk Hinrich have been shining stars. They inspired their teammates Keith Langford, Aaron Miles, Jeff Graves and Michael Lee to have career-best performances in the NCAA Tournament games. They have earned lasting respect and gratitude from coach Roy Williams, and they have found a permanent place in hearts of Jayhawk fans everywhere.
They are true champions in the game of life and have redefined the word courage (derived from the French word for heart), mental or moral strength to venture, persevere and withstand difficulty with fortitude and resilience, stubborn persistence and determination to win (as displayed by Kirk Hinrich and Nick Collison). The entire team is to be commended for giving us a memorable, glorious ride this season.
Janie Irvin,
Lawrence
