LHS takes second at swim meet

? Lawrence High’s girls swimming team only took half its squad, but the Lions still placed second at the Shawnee Mission North triangular Tuesday at SM Northwest.

The Lions, who had several swimmers out because of previous commitments, were second with 87 points, behind winner Blue Valley Northwest’s 160. Shawnee Mission Northwest was third with 79.

“Those that went today aren’t going to Manhattan (today),” LHS coach Ryan Adams said.

“That way, we can have a lot of girls swimming a lot of events, and we can start looking toward the end of the season and know what we should start training girls at now.”

Senior Sarah Marlow was the Lions’ lone first-place finisher, swimming the 500-yard freestyle in 5:24.31.
