To the editor:

I would like to extend a big thank you to the bicyclist on Clinton Parkway who uses a bell chime on his/her bike. As a nurse, I applaud anyone who does any kind of physical activity. As a jogger and dog-walker on Clinton Parkway, I have had some surprising and occasionally painful encounters with bicyclists who come up from behind me.

The traffic noise prevents me from hearing the sound of bike tires and the rare well-intentioned shout from a cyclist. This bell chime is clearly heard above other noises and gives me the opportunity to either move to one side or shorten the leash of my dogs. I encourage other cyclists to follow your example and allow us all to share the road.
