School thrift

To the editor:

I wonder if the Lawrence school board has considered not building new schools but renovating the ones we have, then busing the west side children to the east side? There doesn’t seem to be much concern that the east side children would be transported out of their neighborhood. This needs to apply both ways.

We have plenty of schools, just not in the right places to please those with “the bucks.”

Thanks for listening. Lawrence is a great town but we tend to seek the “Cadillac” solution rather than be cost-conscious and these need to be thrifty times.
