Chance of rain in Lawrence forecast

Tropical Storm Isidore might be dumping buckets of rain in Louisiana, but there’s only a slight chance of rain Thursday for the Lawrence area from a different weather system.

A cold front has been moving toward northeast Kansas from the north and west, bringing clouds and a 20 percent chance of rain to the Lawrence area Thursday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service in Topeka.

Thursday’s skies will be mostly sunny, with a high around 80.

Thursday night’s skies will be partly cloudy, with lows in the lower 50s and light northeast winds.

Mild weather is expected Friday and Saturday, with mostly sunny skies and highs around 80 during the daytime hours, with lows in the mid 50s during the evenings.

Sunday is expected to be partly sunny, with highs in the upper 70s. Monday’s forecast calls for partly cloudy skies with lows in the lowers 50s and highs in the lower 80s.

The forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday calls for a chance of showers and thunderstorms.
