Tickets available for scholarship dinner, auction

The Lawrence Sister Cities Scholarship Dinner & Auction will be at 6:30 p.m. Saturday in Stidham Union on the campus of Haskell Indian Nations University.

The money raised from the event will create a scholarship fund to assist junior and senior high school students who want to study overseas at one of Lawrence’s two sister cities: Eutin, Germany, and Hiratsuka, Japan.

A traditional, Native American dinner will be served, followed by a live auction featuring works by local artists Nancy Bjorge, Louis Copt, Nancy Marshall, Roger Shimomura and Robert Sudlow.

There also will be a silent auction of works donated by Haskell students. Rep. Sandy Praeger, R-Lawrence, will serve as master of ceremonies.

Cost to attend the scholarship benefit is $50 per person, which is tax deductible. There is a limited seating of 120 people for the meal.
