To the editor:

After attending the South Lawrence Trafficway public hearing, I felt it necessary to join others and speak out against a 32nd Street alignment.

As a member of ECO2, I was displeased that Chairman Kelvin Heck spoke at the hearing and used ECO2 in his support of a 32nd Street route. ECO2 did not discuss or endorse any SLT route or associated project. The ECO2 committee was established to come up with shared community solutions to economic and ecological problems.

I do not support 32nd Street because it is divisive: it divides the wetlands; it divides Haskell from its cultural history; and it divides the community. Let’s work together to find another solution, a community solution.
