Wal-Mart an asset

To the editor:

I would just like to say that I totally support the proposed new Wal-Mart Supercenter at Sixth and Wakarusa. I agree with another recent letter that was printed. I believe the “west-siders” are against it because it might ruin their precious, beautiful intersection. If it were going in somewhere on the east side, there would be little resistance from that side of town.

Wal-Mart is already a great asset to the City of Lawrence, and it is way overcrowded now. So I know people here love to shop there. So I would like to welcome the Wal-Mart Supercenter with open arms. It only makes sense for there to be two Wal-Marts, and Sixth and Wakarusa is as good a place as any other. It seems just like the SLT debate, even the naysayers know deep down that the SLT is needed, same as a second Wal-Mart, but they just can not be happy unless they are griping about something around here, it just wouldn’t be Lawrence if they didn’t.
