State honors Hallmark plant for service

The Kansas Commission on National and Community Service initiated the “You Make a Difference Awards” program last year to honor volunteer service.

Employees of the Hallmark Cards plant in Lawrence earned an award in the corporate category. The Ottawa Youth Action Council was honored in the organization category. The family category award was presented to Doug and Linda Jenkins of Ottawa.

At the Hallmark plant, employees work on behalf of Lawrence Community Theatre, Salvation Army, Boys and Girls Club of Lawrence, The Shelter and American Red Cross throughout Douglas County.

The $1,000 award for Hallmark is to benefit the Roger Hill Volunteer Center in Lawrence.
