Patrol continues search for driver in turnpike wreck

The Kansas Highway Patrol is looking for the driver of a pick-up truck involved in a three-vehicle accident Thursday on the Kansas Turnpike.

Lt. John Eichkorn of the Highway Patrol said that around 2:15 p.m. Thursday a yellow pick-up truck hauling a white recreational vehicle pulled out of the service area east of Lawrence and forced a tractor-trailer into a ditch.

A Jeep driven by a 34-year-old Lawrence man trying to avoid the accident struck the recreational vehicle, hauled by the truck that left the scene.

Troopers would still like to talk to that driver. Anyone with information is asked to call the Kansas Turnpike Authority at 843-5826.
