Other dangers

To the editor:

I am utterly disgusted by the city commission’s recent development of banning fireworks in Lawrence. They say that fun stops when, “it comes to threatening injuries to life and property.” If that’s so then why are children still allowed to play soccer, ride bikes, and climb trees? In the past children have gotten killed riding bicycles in this town due to getting hit by cars. How can the city commission allow this to happen?

Every day little children go outside to ride their bikes; not thinking about the two-ton missiles waiting to careen into them. The city mothers and fathers are failing to address this threat?!? How many more children must die before bikes are banned? It seems as though the city commission is focusing their energy on the least of important matters, which face us citizens today.
