Fewer dropouts

To the editor:

I am commenting on the “Too Simple” letter to the editor. The Alternative School is not for students who can’t make it. The Alternative School is for students who want extra help or even graduate faster. The teachers at the Alternative School actually care enough to help us graduate. They make students want to come to school.

We need a bigger school. There are alternatives for everything in life. People should be glad that there is an alternative high school. If there wasn’t an alternative high school, then there would be a higher dropout rate for high school students. But since there is an alternative school, the dropout rate is not very high. Now that they want to build a new alternative for us, then more students can come out to the alternative school.

The person who wrote the “Too Simple” article needs to do more research instead of giving or stating false facts. There are more than 100 students who go to the Alternative School. Not everyone goes to the Alternative School, just those who want to go and get a good education instead of dropping out of school and getting a G.E.D. So there are good reasons why we have Lawrence Alternative High School.
