Successful sale

To the editor:

The recent library book sale sponsored by the Friends of the Library brought in over $46,000 for use in purchasing materials available to all of us at the Lawrence Public Library. This result depended on the gifts and efforts of many groups and individuals, and we appreciate them all. First, of course, we thank the Lawrence community for donations of over 100,000 books and for patronizing the sale in large numbers.

Also key to the sale’s success were the Friends members and the many volunteers who sorted books, set up the sale, tallied purchases, took money, ran the silent auction and performed the many other duties that go into the event.

These pricers, sorters and Friends worked all year preparing for the sale and are already pricing and sorting books for the spring sale scheduled for April 3-12. Thank you to all.
