Man suffers injuries in traffic accident

Rescue workers move Stanley Rogers to KU Medical Center in Kansas City after a traffic accident Monday morning.

A Lawrence man who suffered injuries when he was hit by a van Monday morning in southwest Lawrence was in fair condition Monday afternoon in a Kansas City area hospital.

Stanley Rogers, 49, was hit by the van shortly before 9 a.m. while walking north across Clinton Parkway at the Kasold Drive intersection, Police Lt. David Cobb said.

The van, driven by Patricia Smith, 47, Lawrence, had been southbound on Kasold and was turning on a green light eastbound onto Clinton Parkway, Cobb said.

Smith told officers the early morning sun made it difficult to see, Cobb said.

Rogers was taken to KU Med, Kansas City, Kan., by air ambulance, Cobb said.

A 69-year-old San Diego man who was with Rogers was not hurt, Cobb said.
