Historic blunder

To the editor:

Congress made an historic blunder. They have given the president a blank check to go to war, unilaterally if need be. I hope that this deeply flawed decision will not come back to haunt us a year from now.

I do not share Congress’ confidence that the Bush administration will make a good faith effort to resolve the conflict with Iraq peacefully. Very little that administration officials have said or done up until now indicates much interest in working with the U.N., resuming weapons inspections, listening to and cooperating with other countries, or resolving the conflict with Iraq through any means other than war.
