Geological survey sponsors field trip
Rocks and fossils of northwest Kansas will be the focus of a public field trip Saturday by the Kansas Geological Survey.
The trip, co-sponsored by the Nature Conservancy, includes stops at the Smoky Valley Ranch Preserve in Logan County, Monument Rocks in Gove County and Lake Scott State Park.
Topics will include an overview of the geology of the Smoky Hills and High Plains, the Ogallala aquifer and fossils found in Kansas.
The group will leave at 8:30 a.m. from Oakley and return about 5:30 p.m. Cost is $15.
