Accidents

A 17-year-old Lawrence boy suffered a cut to the head shortly before 8 p.m. when he was struck by a pickup truck while walking south along the west side of Kasold Drive, crossing 15th Street, Lawrence Police Sgt. Dave Hubbel said. The northbound truck was turning west onto 15th Street at a low speed and struck the boy, who was in the crosswalk against a red light. The boy was taken by ambulance to Lawrence Memorial Hospital where police learned that he had been reported as a runaway. After he was treated, the boy was taken to Douglas County Juvenile Detention Center.
