Rally point
To the editor:
In the article that appeared in the Nov. 17 Journal-World titled, “Forum debates role of men at abuse rally,” Josiah Legler said he found Womyn Take Back the Night intimidating and he would like to be with his girlfriend during the entire event.
I feel this is no more than a power struggle and shows that we women need spaces of our own. I would like to go on record that I totally disagree with men being involved in the women’s survivor circle and the march down Massachusetts Street. I don’t hate men, but we need our space. I don’t feel my point has been put out there. I accept others may disagree with me, but I also know we as Americans have free speech and the right to our opinion. I feel men should not be involved.
I would usually just be quiet and not say anything and let others decide, but I am not going to do that. I am going to make sure my voice is heard and heard loud and clear. If men are allowed in, I will have to think if I will be involved.
