Good choice
To the editor:
I was quite struck by the negative tone of Sunday’s article on high schools being required to supply military recruiters with students information (“if” requested).
For many kids, the military is not a “bad” choice. Our young people in the military not only learn a productive skill, but also receive many benefits for future educational opportunities should they choose. Many kids do not attend college because of financial or academic reasons, and the military is an excellent choice for them.
Frankly, I encouraged my son to check out the benefits of joining. He left for basic training and technical school this week. When he returns, he will be paid to attend college.
I am one very proud mom who is grateful to all the recruiters who took the time to contact my son!
