Election calls

To the editor:

I am a registered Republican and also joined the “no-call” list. On Election Day, I received a call from President George W. Bush telling me of his need for Republican support in Congress, and late in the day I received a call from Laura Bush reminding me to vote. With this in mind, I would like to ask two questions of Todd and Robin Kofford who recently wrote about their concerns with political calls. One, is it all right for me to brag to my grandchildren that I am important enough that the president of the United States and his wife each took time off on a busy Election Day to call me and, number two, now that my emotional tranquility was violated by election calls, should I consider changing my party affiliation because the president and his first lady showed a general lack of respect for my privacy?
