Cold weather and snow headed Lawrence’s way
Need cold, wintery weather to get you into the holiday spirit? You won’t have to wait long.
A cold spell is headed Lawrence’s way by Sunday, bringing with it a few snow flurries.
“There’s a chance of snow during the day on Sunday,” Matt Makens, 6News meteorologist said Friday. “I think it will just be light flurries with no accumulation.”
Friday’s forecast calls for sunny skies with a high reaching 54 during the afternoon. The overnight low will be in the upper 30s, with light winds 5-10 mph.
“Saturday will be a good day — sunny, warm about 59 for the high,” Makens said.
The cold weather will bluster in on Saturday night, with a chance of light rain and light snow after midnight.
Sunday will be cloudy and cold, with a high of 36, and the chance of snow, Makens said.
“A big snowstorm would be unusual, but passing flurries would be typical for this time of year,” he said.
He said Saturday’s weather will be the warmest for a while. The highs for all next week will be in the 30s to low 40s, he said.
“The weather is going to help with the holidays,” he said. “It will be more wintery and feel like Thanksgiving should feel.”
