Thanks to HINU

To the editor:

We all owe a big thank you to Haskell Indian Nations University for its outstanding efforts in the re-sodding of the field at Haskell Stadium, allowing the youths of Lawrence to participate in sports and educational activities at a remarkable and historical facility in our community.

Also, what a great idea to joint-venture with Haskell to put down artificial turf at Haskell Stadium, as recently reported by the Journal-World. Hopefully, USD 497 and other governmental units utilizing this facility will recognize such to be the most cost-efficient way to provide this community with continued use of what is believed to be one of the most noteworthy venues in Kansas for high school sports and educational activities. The Lawrence High School Lions have been playing football games, track events, band competitions, etc., at this historical facility for over 50 years, and we need to continue the partnership with Haskell.

Please join me in extending a big thank you to Virgil Allen, Charles Hawkins and all at Haskell Indian Nations University for their notable contributions to the youth of our community.

Daryl Richardson,

Lawrence
