Joshua I. Walton, 20, remained in good condition Friday at KU Med, Kansas City, Kan. He was injured Oct. 8 when his car collided head-on with a tractor-trailer on Kansas Highway 10 west of Eudora.

Burglaries and Thefts Reported

  • A 52-year-old Oskaloosa woman reported someone took a Yamaha alto saxophone between Sept. 15 and Sept. 30 from 830 Mass. The saxophone, valued at $1,000, was reported missing Wednesday.
  • Central National Bank, 603 W. Ninth St., reported someone deposited a worthless check for $5,500 on Oct. 12, then withdrew $4,500 of the money. The crime was reported Wednesday, and police are interviewing a 22-year-old male suspect from Lawrence.
  • Someone broke into Walker’s Fine Jewelry, 4931 W. Sixth St., around 12:50 a.m. Friday and took an undisclosed amount of jewelry. The burglars caused $5,500 in damage to a glass door and glass jewelry case. Jewelry store owners were working to determine how much inventory was stolen, Lawrence Police said Friday. No suspects have been identified.
