Test drive becomes theft
A woman walked into Auto Gallery, 845 Iowa, about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday and asked to take a red 1999 Dodge Intrepid for a test drive.
About two hours later, when workers realized the car hadn’t been returned, they called Lawrence Police.
Police spokesman Sgt. Mike Pattrick said the woman ” described as 5 feet 9 inches tall, with brown hair and brown eyes ” left another stolen car in the Auto Gallery parking lot. It was a 2000 Ford Explorer that belonged to a company in Omaha, Neb., but had stolen tags from Wichita.
The Intrepid was valued at $7,000. Police continue to investigate the incident.
