The game: Malcolm accounted for every Firebird point in last Friday’s 21-17 loss to Shawnee Mission East. The running back scored a couple of touchdowns, kicked a couple of extra points and nailed a 32-yard field goal. Not bad for a guy who was third on the depth chart at the start of the season. But after overcoming an illness and a concussion, he ended up leading FSHS in rushing the final two games of the season.

Comment: “Will’s a hard worker,” FSHS coach Bob Lisher said. “He plays hard, he runs hard, he just competes really well, which should carry over to next year.”
