First animal fair draws dozens for fund-raiser
A vendor’s fair featuring floppy Frisbees, holiday-themed chew toys and designer food bowls drew dozens Sunday and helped raise funds for the Lawrence Humane Society.
Midge Grinstead, society director, said she hoped the event would raise at least $1,500. Vendors donated a portion of their profits to the society.
It was the first year for the fair, which ran from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds.
The fund-raiser joined three others the society organizes annually, including Santa Paws, which is set for Dec. 1.
