Just for fun

To the editor:

Has this country just gone crazy. Are our children not allowed to be children. Our superintendent says that Halloween activities interfere with learning. For ONE day, our children are not allowed to be children and have an imagination. Should we take away recess (this takes away from learning)? Should we take away Christmas, Thanksgiving? We all wonder why our children have no spirit.

My son said to me yesterday, “Why when you were a kid you could have fun, and now we can’t? What did we do wrong?” What did they do wrong to have everything taken away. Next we will be telling them NO you can’t ride your bike, NO you can’t roller skate, NO you can’t skateboard. Why? Because everyone wants them to be grown- ups. Maybe we all should have a little child in ourselves. Maybe then we would not be so stressed and cause things like road rage, shooting people etc.

Let’s not take away what little that our children have left. It’s only Halloween; the world is not going to end because they spend one day having some fun. They won’t be undereducated. Let us grown-ups be grown up and let the children be children.
