Golf group suspends plan to build course at Haskell

The Native American Junior Golf Assn. announced Thursday that it would “defer” plans to build a nine-hole golf course on the Haskell Indian Nations University.

B.J. Cisneros, the association’s founder, said the group planned to explore other sites in Topeka and Lawrence.

Last month, Cisneros, in a meeting with the university’s Board of Regents, proposed building a $3 million course on about 65 acres south of the powwow grounds.
